Sacred Mother

As you know, I am now a Mother. I’m new here so I’m working on the words to describe this feeling. I will say that it has been intense AND this past month has been really fun!

Stella Rose is my daughter and her birth transformed me. I knew it would in a way… but I didn’t know how.

And, there is something that I knew before I gave birth. That I can now say from experience, is true.

Birth is SACRED.
Mothers are SACRED.
Babies are SACRED.

Stella’s birth did not happened as I envisioned, as I willed it to. And I know, that especially birth, is unpredictable. I’ve listened to about a hundred birth stories and I get it… but I longed for an undisturbed birth. The plan was the Birth Center (which was amazing care btw, I wouldn’t trade anything for my Midwives and Doula) and I ended up transferring to the hospital for pain (active labor up until then was about 20hrs), she was in a position that would not allow me to birth naturally. I’m sharing this small piece of the story because the hospital did not honor my requests and the staff was disconnected from me and from Stella. They treated me like another “case” or something. Not the Sacred Birth that it was.

This story is not mine alone, it is the story of millions of women all over the world. Not being treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Not only will I use my voice to speak on this matter, but I hope to remind Mothers…
