Dreaming Big

If you’re anything like me…or…well…any human, you dream. You DREAM BIG.

You dream of not worrying about money.

You dream of a better home.

You dream you could finish those projects you haven’t made time for.

You dream about the trips you want to go on.

You dream of upgrading your yoga mat or bath towels.

You dream of buying the perfect dress for every occasion.

You look around and think…wow this could be so much better. I need a new yoga mat because has scratches in it because my dog bedded down on it. The deck really needs to be stained and finished. The trim in this house could really use another coat of paint, it looks dirty. How do people even manage white soled shoes? The ground in Wyoming is not compatible, but hell, they are comfortable…

And then you judge yourself. You judge yourself for not making more effort. For not taking care of your things better. For not working yourself to death to finish all of your projects, to put in extra hours in to earn the money you need to buy the things that are dingy (although still useful). You project that everyone that comes over or sees you will judge your home or your appearance. So you make excuses. “Someday we’ll have this immaculate space that looks new and never touched, I swear, you’ll see!”

It’s exhausting really…and can we all just stop it?

Do the scratches on my yoga mat make it gross, unusable, trash, make me trashy? (this may be my actual yoga mat). The answer should be, who freaking cares! You are doing yoga, you are doing something for your body and mind. Just use it and to hell with judgement.

There are so many things that will never be finished…including your personal evolution.

Recently, I’ve been working on just being happy. Every. Damn. Day. I actively think about what fun I can have and have had will within each moment.

Sure, I’ll always dream, dream of what’s to come. Dream of hiring someone to stain this deck I’m sitting on. Dream of buying a new yoga mat do put on my freshly stained deck that looks incredible. But my truth is…that I’m already getting what I need out of my yoga practice, my meditation, the sun, writing this note to you on this half finished deck that the birds poop on because our feeders are hanging too close. But ya know what? It brings me joy, because the birds are near me (no pooping on me…yet…). The hummingbirds flutter during my meditation. My puppy naps near by. The sun beams down at me as I gaze at the mountains and feel the breeze flow through me. THAT is joy. THAT is experiencing life on this planet as a human.

So why do we do it? Why do we judge and worry about being judged? Most of all…why do we judge ourselves?

Because when we get to “that place” or get “that thing", you know you’ll want something else. To upgrade to something else. There is NO limit to what we can dream.

So DON’T limit your happiness NOW!

It’s all out there, it’s all coming to you.

Are you going to wait to be happy or have fun until then?

Are you going to remain upset and mad and focus on what you don’t have?

OR are you going to do yourself a huge favor and enjoy the life you have right NOW?

I’m choosing NOW! And I remember to choose now because I practice gratitude daily.

I’d love to help you start your practice with the x33 Gratitudes Bracelet I designed. Use it to help you remember to say your gratitudes, and say one thing per bead you are grateful for in your life. Then things start looking pretty damn good.
